The first day of school is quickly approaching for many of you. I showed this picture on my Instagram for the first time a couple of years ago. Every time I share it, I get lots of questions about everything here. I thought it might be helpful to put all this info in one place for you.
gimme the Links
I know many of you are here for the links so let’s address those real quick:
- Back-to-school bags: This set includes several designs that can be used throughout the year.
- Colorful Bags: I found these bags at Michaels and they come in different colors.
- Binder Covers: This set includes many that can be used to organize all your teacher materials.
- Name Tags: These name tags can be taped onto student desks, but they are designed to fit inside the large adhesive pouches from Target. They are available each summer in the dollar spot.
Desk Set Up
I like to place everything on the desks so we can quickly go over some of the materials the students will be working with and so that we can organize everything inside desks right away. This includes these books and homework binders.
This is the perfect time to go over what their homework binders are for and expectations for them.
I often get asked what I put inside the binders. There isn’t much inside them on the first day. We add to them throughout the year. On the first day of school we have just a few things in there like spelling words, our newsletters, calendars, and some forms that families need to fill out.
Bags
Another frequently asked question I get a ton is what I put inside the bags. Here is what I put inside:
A few items from the dollar store, crayons, an eraser, and a couple of snacks because I know that the first day can be rough on their tummies.
This set up worked so well and the kids really enjoyed their little goodie bags! We took a couple of breaks throughout the day for them to enjoy each snack. I know these bags look don’t look like a big deal, but you should have seen their faces when they walked in and saw them on their desks. It’s small things like these that make a big difference to our kids. I had parents calling in and emailing to let me know how excited their children were after their first day.
I hope this post answers any questions you may have. If you have any more for me, please hit contact at the top and I will be there to help!
