I’m back to share a Bright Idea that has saved me lots of time!
A couple of years ago I ran across a picture on Pinterest, via The Daily Cafe, of a book hospital and it made think about how much I needed one for my class.
So I created my own book hospital:
To create it, I adhered scrapbook paper around a book bucket using Mod Podge. I used my Cricut to create the little owl cut outs and the letters.
If you don’t have a Silhouette or a Cricut, you could easily whip up a label on your computer and attach it to a book bucket/basket to designate it as your book hospital.
At first, I had to remind my students to put books in the book hospital when they came to me with a ripped book, but now they know to place their ripped books in the book hospital instead of bringing them to me. I can fix the books as time allows or when several books have accumulated in the “hospital.” I placed my book hospital right above my library so the kids can easily place books in there. So easy! Saves me lots of time!
