We got to make our portraits this week and they were so much fun!! My kids loved it. I will definitely keep doing this one every year.
This is what our display looked like:
They all turned out really cute but here were some of my favorites:
I love this fashionable old lady with her houndstooth dress, red earrings, chunky white necklace and enormous flower 🙂
Here are some tips if you are interested in doing this with your kids:
1. It’s really difficult to find paper that is skin colored so I headed to Joann’s and bought individual 12X12 scrapbook paper that was skin colored. It was inexpensive and each sheet provided enough paper for four students.
2. Have lots of cotton and googly eyes on hand.
3. Provide a variety of scrapbook papers for clothes.
We are also studying penguins and we are reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins for fun.
When I was reading about it online, it says it’s on a 4th-5th grade reading level, but it’s been perfect as a read aloud for 2nd graders. The kids have been enjoying Captain Cook so far!
I am linking up with Teaching Maddeness for Flashback Friday. Make sure to link up!
